Does Christian freedom include the freedom to use marijuana? How should the church respond to the legalization of marijuana and its rise in use? Should the church condemn all uses of marijuana, or is it permissible under certain circumstances? How does Scripture influence our decision? Legalism is Easy

“I wish I could just do my duty and be done today” I thought as I got into the car on my way to church. I could go in, get it done, and go home. It would be much easier that way. There’s a lot to be said for legalism. It makes life simple when you only need to follow a set of dos and don’ts. It’s black and white; this is right and this is wrong. It takes relatively little effort to follow rules. I can control the outcome. The responsibility for my life’s outcome is in my control. First, let me begin by saying, I believe in the holy catholic Church. I’m not saying I’m a Roman Catholic. This is actually old language from the Apostles’ Creed. The word “catholic” in this context just means universal. Usually the word “Church” (when capitalized) refers to the universal body of Christ in all places, and all times.
