What It Really Means to Have a Basket Weaving Ministry in Your Church

When I look at the various ministries certain churches have, I feel a bit overwhelmed at times. Everyone has a “ministry” for everything and everyone. If you want to reach the lost and hurting basket weavers of your city, there might be a ministry for that. If you want to find a place to reach the deer hunters, start a tree-stand ministry. If you want to touch the lives of those who only eat meat on odd numbered days of the month, go for it. The explosion of ministries like this point to one common factor: People want to “do church” where they are. They want to be a part of a community that participates in their life, their hobbies, their good times and their bad times.
